MORE than 150 concerned residents packed out a meeting this evening to hear from detectives leading the hunt for the murderer of a Southampton pensioner.
Crowds gathered at the Royal Yacht Club at Ocean Village to hear from Detective Superintendent Tony Harris who is leading the inquiry.
He reiterated his appeal for information that could help the team of detectives in their hunt for the killer of 85-year-old Delia Hughes.
He said that so far high profile witness appeals and searches of the area around her Atlantic Close flat including underwater searches had so far failed to provide any breakthrough to the investigation.
He confirmed that the murder weapon had still not yet been recovered.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from a potential witness who was described as white, aged 25 to 30 of slim build, 5ft 8ins. He was wearing a blue or grey coloured hooded jacket or cagoule which was zipped at the front.
Police are also trawling hours of CCTV footage as part of the inquiry into the murder of the great-grandmother who died as a result of several blunt force blows to the head and whose body was found on August 18 by relatives.
Anyone with information can contact Southampton Central police station on 101 or Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting Operation Anglian.
