Hundreds of women pulled on their posh frocks and slipped on their stilettos yesterday for Ladies Day.
The yachts served as a stunning backdrop as ladies took centre stage. And it was clear this year’s chosen charity was the Breast Cancer Campaign because the showground became a sea of pink.
The Daily Echo photographer and a team of fashion scouts scoured the show to find the Best Dressed Ladies.
And with the number of beautiful women sporting breathtaking outfits, it was a tough call to make to crown this year’s fashion queen.
But the prize went to Leny McDonnell, in a blue dress teamed with matching heels and coordinating glittery nails.
Despite the sound of stilettos strutting on the pontoons in the marina and fascinators blowing in the breeze, six women – including the Daily Echo reporter Tara Russell – forgot about fashion and slithered into wetsuits to entertain the crowds for this year’s Ladies Day challenge.
Olympian Lizzie Neave, a slalom kayaker, instructed the show’s media partners, sponsor and charity representative before the girls got in the water.
Female celebrities also graced the showground.
Ambassador of ladies day Hampshire powerboater Shelly Jory-Leigh turned heads in a chic black and white spotted dress and wowed crowds with her talk about women competing in a man’s world at the boat clinic.
Sailor Dee Caffari and endurance racer Lucy Rivers-Bulkeley were also there inspiring women to get involved in sport The finale came when the winner of the Daily Echo Best Dressed Lady was announced in the Sunseeker champagne bar.
Winner Leny, 35, who was visiting Southampton with her girlfriends said she loves fashion but her husband picked out her prize winning ensemble.
