AN ALERT has been issued over reports of "suspicious" carol singers across Hampshire.
Police have received reports from concerned residents of suspicious behaviour.
Officers are urging residents to check ID, adding that anyone collecting for charity will have ID and should have papers verified and stamped by Hampshire Police.
Many residents have voiced their concerns about an "aggressive" lone singer visiting homes across Southampton and West End in the borough of Eastleigh.
A police spokesperson said: "We’ve received a number of reports this month from concerned residents reporting the suspicious behaviour of carol singers in their area. Be reassured that this is on our radar, but no crimes have been committed."
To report a crime residents are urged to call police on 101.
