A woman from Barton-on-Sea died after falling down the stairs of her home a Winchester inquest heard.
Joan Violet Wager, 86, of Seaward Avenue, Barton-on-Sea, was found at the bottom of her stairs by her husband Ken on January 27 2017.
Mrs Wager was sent by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital, where it was revealed that she had a traumatic head injury as a result of the fall and suffered a haemorrhage and skull fracture.
The hospital palliative care team agreed that there was no appropriate surgical option and on January 31 she was transferred to Oakhaven Hospice in Lymington.
Mrs Wager died peacefully on February 9 at the hospice in Lymington. Her family have expressed gratitude for the quality of care that she received at Southampton General Hospital and at Oakhaven Hospice.
The Senior Coroner Grahame Short summed up the hearing and recorded a verdict of accidental death.
