WINCHESTER Sings! a local community choir, held a fundraising evening in May to raise money for Winchester & District Young Carers (WYC).
Approximately 180 people attended the event, held at the Winchester Vineyard Church at Bar End, which included a concert by the choir and a quiz. Organisers also held a raffle during the evening and were thrilled to raise a total of £1,500.
Winchester Sings! is a relatively new community choir which started in April 2016, and meets every Thursday evening at Henry Beaufort School.
The choir were keen to support a local charity and recognised the importance of the services that Winchester & District Young Carers provides.
The cheque was presented to Alison Cross, Schools and support co-ordinator from WYC and young carers Zara and Ellie Davidson.
Alison thanked the choir for all their hard work and said that the much needed funds would be put towards activities for the 80-plus young carers it has on its books, so that they can have some time out from their caring responsibilities, relax and have fun, and enjoy being children.
