PUPILS from Kings’ School in Winchester are celebrating after a winning a £40,000 Heritage Lottery Fund bid to support a major new project.
The youngsters from Hampshire will investigate the impact of African and Caribbean migration into Britain during the 20th century.
They will do so in partnership with Acton High School in West London, which is one of the areas favoured by the new settlers.
Both schools are working on a research project with the aim of putting together a drama performance, a touring exhibition and an oral history DVD.
Sue Lawrence, head teacher at the Winchester school, said: “It is a wonderful opportunity for pupils at Kings’ School to be involved in such an educational project.”

“Hampshire’s Museums Service is pleased to to support the project and I look forward to viewing the exhibition and performance in July.”
