AS the clock struck ten, hordes of anxious youngsters flooded through the double doors at Regents Park Community College, eager to receive their GCSE results.

Laughter, smiles and tears filled the main hall at the King Edward Avenue school as dozens of teenage girls opened their envelopes.

Among those with the biggest grins on their faces were 16-year-olds Razwana Quadir and Amina Shadab.

Razwana, who scored As in all her exams as well as a B in AS level English Literature, said: "I'm really happy with my results. They were even better than I'd expected. I'm really looking forward to college now."

Razwana is now going to Peter Symonds College in Winchester.

Amina said: "I did ten times better than I expected. I got high-grade passes in all my subjects. I was really nervous and didn't want to open my results letter."

Amina will be joining Razwana at Peter Symonds in September.
