Was Bill Clinton impeached?

The plot of the show's fourth seasons follows the events that lead up to the Impeachment of the Bill Clinton.

The 42nd president was impeached on December, 19 1998 by the US House of Representatives.

Clinton was charged under two articles: lying under oath and for the obstruction of justice.

The charges stemmed from revelations of a sexual harassment lawsuit that was taken out against him by Paula Jones and his affair with White House intern Monika Levinsky.

His impeachment came after a formal inquiry by the House of Representatives in October 1998.

He was the second president in history to be impeached after Andrew Johnson in 1868.

The only other US president to go through the impeachment process was the 45th US president Donald Trump, who has been impeached and acquitted twice.

Clinton was acquitted of all charges at his Senate trial since there needs to be a two-thirds majority for an Impeachment conviction.
