The centre of Southampton's nightlife has reopened to traffic as a scheme to transform the area progresses.
Bedford Place has reopened after five weeks of work.
The council has created a wider and curved pavement at the junction with Carlton Place so restaurants and bars can have more outdoor seating.
The project, expected to be finished by mid-April, hopes to 'elevate the character of the area.
The narrower Bedford Place aims to slow traffic.
Meanwhile, a piazza-style square is being created at the junction of Carlton Place and Lower Bannister Street.
The council has also announced plans for upgraded CCTV and lighting.
