Eastleigh manager Richard Hill refused to comment after the 3-1 defeat at Bromley that plunged his side into the Blue Square South relegation zone.
Cash-strapped Truro City are the only side below Eastleigh after they failed to capitalise on an early lead against a Bromley side who leapfrogged the Spitfires by responding positively to Jai Reason’s fourth-minute penalty.
Bromley were without manager Mark Goldberg, who was watching son Bradley score a cracker for Hastings United at Middlesbrough in the FA Cup third round.
And it looked like it might be Eastleigh’s afternoon when Damian Scannell was brought down and Reason smashed in his tenth of the season from the spot. But Eastleigh are preparing to entertain Billericay at the Silverlake Stadium tomorrow on the back of five successive Blue Square South defeats after conceding three goals without reply. Ali Fuseini, who was released by Eastleigh after playing just one game following his non-appearance at a match a year ago, netted a 28th-minute equaliser by reacting quickest to his header against the crossbar.
Eastleigh duo Glen Southam and Andy Forbes both missed the target with first-half headers before Bromley ensured a positive response to their New Year’s Day defeat at home to Sutton United, with two second-half goals.
