Saints have shown European form to turn around their torrid start to life back in the Premier League.
Statistics produced by the Daily Echo show just how far Saints have come after a tough baptism following their return to the top flight.
After 11 games of the season Saints sat second from bottom of the Premier League with just five points and a depressing goal difference of -14.
But since then Nigel Adkins and his men have turned things around to dramatic effect.
The Premier League table for the last 11 games see Saints in seventh place with an impressive 17 points and a goal difference of plus four.
“This is new to all of us,” reflected Adkins.
“We have been used to winning games over the last few years and the baptism when we came into the Barclays Premier League when you look at this first four or fixtures they were tough games. We were in them but they were tough games.
“The first ten games I think we only picked up four points so we talk about how we’ve improved, how the players have grown in confidence and how we’re finding ways to pick up points.
“To come away from home (at Chelsea) and to show a resolve and character to come from 2-0 behind and get something from the game, which is very rare, is great credit to the players and the character that they are showing.”
