Chris Makin believes Saints' disappointment at only getting a point at Sunderland shows just how far they've come.

Makin was given a rousing reception by the fans at the Stadium of Light where he played earlier in his career and did well at right back.

But he was frustrated by the 1-1 draw - even though Saints had to leave it late to get their goal.

He said: "The mood in the dressing room at the moment is definitely a bit frustrated and a bit disappointed.

"It is another game that we have played away from home at one of the fancied teams.

"We have come here and held our own with the football that we have played. I wouldn't say that we dominated the game but we certainly gave a good account of ourselves.

"If you look at the amount of chances we created we definitely deserved something more that we got. It says it all that we are coming away from here disappointed with a draw."
