New Saints manager Mauricio Pochettino thanked both his players and the fans for their support after tonight’s goalless draw with Everton.
Saints produced an impressive display on their way to a point in the Argentine’s first game in charge after replacing Nigel Adkins following his controversial sacking last week.
While Adkins’ name was sung loudly by the supporters, the team and Pochettino were also given plenty of backing.
Speaking through a translator, the manager said: “I just want to thank the players for the three days that they’ve been working with me. They’ve done very well today and in these three days.
“I also want to thank the supporters. They have been very kind with me and the reception has been amazing.
“I think tonight we’ve done very well. We’ve created at least seven good chances to score.
“The only shame was that we didn’t score any goals. We created a lot of chances, and were facing a very good side in Everton. They’re fifth in the league, I believe.
“So I think the team deserves a lot of credit. We did suffer a bit more in the second half, but again we were creating chances, and we just needed that bit more luck.”
