Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is set to recall the Premier League’s top scorer, Robin van Persie, for tonight’s visit of Saints.
The Dutchman was an unused substitute in United’s comfortable 4-1 home victory over Fulham in the FA Cup on Saturday, but is expected to be back in the starting line-up this evening.
The addition of the former Arsenal striker last summer, in a deal worth £24m, has helped Ferguson assemble the most potent attack in the division.
United’s top three scorers this term – Van Persie, Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney – have accounted for 33 of their 57 league goals.
Ferguson, who is also set to bring centre backs Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand back into the side, insists he will not be taking Saints for granted.
