George Burley is urging his midfield to support the strikers and take the goalscoring burden off Grzegorz Rasiak.

Rudi Skacel's goal at Leeds last Saturday was only the FIFTH time Saints have scored from midfield in 18 Championship matches this season.

Rasiak has managed ten league goals himself - he has already passed last season's top scorer Ricardo Fuller's nine goal tally - despite missing a few games recently.

Bradley Wright-Phillips and Kenwyne Jones have contributed five between them - though the former has only scored once in the league since the opening day of the season - with left-back Gareth Bale weighing in with three and Jermaine Wright also scoring one from right back.

The weight of expectation in front of goal has been firmly on Rasiak's shoulders but Burley hopes the 3-0 win at Leeds is the start of a change.

He said: "It's important that goals come from the whole team.

"Something we worked on last week is trying to get more people from midfield into the box.

"We watched the video of the game against Leeds and that (area) certainly had improved.

"That was the reason why Grzegorz scored his first goal because Andrew Surman got in the box and then Rudi Skacel is five yards out in the box and scored the second.

"It's important the midfield players come and support the front as well."
