SAINTS fan Chris Newman has sent the Daily Echo his view on today's AGM.

Newman was writing in response to last Friday's Echo story which stated that Rupert Lowe and Andrew Cowen were expected to attend today.

I suppose we should have guessed it.

I refer to the wretched cheek of ex (thank goodness) Saints chairman Rupert Lowe and his ubiquitous sidekick Andrew Cowen.

Not to mention the part Guy Askham and his cronies played in the downfall of SFC - our once great football club.

Who does Lowe think he is (unfathomable that particular enigma) asking the current board (who most true supporters fans wish every success) about future investment plans?

During their time Lowe, Cowan and Co would reveal ABSOLUTELY NOTHING of any note to either shareholders and fans alike.

The latter still being the most important part of ANY football club ... always will be.

It's a pleasure to go to the stadium these days - a St Marys without the awful oppressive atmosphere that the whole Lowe situation brought about.

The stark truth is that under Lowe's stewardship - and since the great achievement of a cup final place and top half Premiership finish, SFC started to travel slowly, but surely, to hell in a handcart.

The club was disgracefully tearing itself apart internally.

All Lowe really wanted - to satisfy his self interest and smug ego - was to win a boardroom and training ground civil war that badly affected Saints - where it really counts - on the playing side.

In the process, class players Niemi (hopefully Bialkowski will grow into one just like him) and the abrasive yet articulate Nigel Quashie (an impressive player and person to talk to) wanted out of a club they at one time genuinely wanted to play for.

Cowan's statement about directors re-arranging financial deckchairs was nothing more than a superfluous piece of totally transparent political posturing.

The fact is that just like "Titanic" SFC was ALREADY SUNK thanks to him and his colleagues.

In fact, I myself warned about the forthcoming iceberg good ship Saints was destined to collide with a long time ago in a previous missive.

Unfortunately our boardroom was far to arrogant to want to listen to mere fans or anyone else for that matter.

This is precisely why we are, where we are, today.

Who is to say that further investment in SFC is not just around the corner in any case.

Good business people (Lowe never really was) are not fools rushing in' - they want their future investment to become sound. Of course they do. This has nothing to do with high finance but has a lot more to do with common sense.

Yes, recent managerial mistakes have been made - but George Burley will get us there in the end I feel sure.

I would rather he hadn't bought all the candy in the sweetshop in one go and saved around half of his budget for the January window for a timely promotion push.

George has also left us short up front by selling two decent goalscorers in Blackstock (Dexter should have been retained) and Fuller.

We also desperately need the likes of David Prutton restored to midfield sooner rather that later.

In addition, I was again impressed with David McGoldrick in the recent friendly down at Eastleigh.

Come on George, give the lad a bit of a run.

Rasiak is crying out for a decent partner and McGoldrick (a natural goalscorer) could now fit the bill.

For at this moment in time, Wright-Phillips has only produced in patches and Kenwyne Jones remains unconvincing as a centre forward.
