High-scoring amateur darts players will get the opportunity to take on some of the world’s best at the inaugural Southampton City Masters.
Organisers of the event, planned for June 21 at the city’s Guildhall, have lined up a separate competition that is open to spectators.
Winners will be given the chance to toe the oche with two times PDC world champion Adrian Lewis, Premier League star Andy Hamilton, former BDO and current PDC favourite Kevin Painter and Jamie Caven who is in prolific form.
Spectators are being invited to take part in a six-dart challenge which will take place before the main event.
Players will be asked to score as many points as they can with six darts – with the best five all earning a place on stage.
It costs £5 to enter or three attempts for £10.
The evening will also see the final of a local league singles.
Freemantle, Shirley & District finalists Kev Woodward and John Pearson will contest the league title on stage before being invited to take on one of the professionals over one leg of 501.
Ladies’ singles champion Angie Cotton will also toe the oche with the stars.
Lewis, Hamilton, Painter and Caven will play two semi-finals with the two winners progressing to the final.
All matches are to be played best of 11 legs.
