Two Southampton Diving Academy youngsters are among a select group placed on a pioneering Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme.
The Amateur Swimming Association will welcome 170 aquatic athletes, across all disciplines, on to government-funded AASE schemes throughout the next couple of months.
Southampton's Jack Clewlow and Dayne Mulford were among a group of 17 to undergo the diving element in Sheffield last weekend, where they were given an overview of the apprenticeship.
As part of the programme, athletes will learn about such key subjects as time management, career planning, nutrition and training, and communications.
