SOUTHAMPTON Trailblazers' senior men remain undefeated in the English League Division 4 following their first home game of the season.

Playing at their temporary venue at Millbrook School, they sank south coast rivals Bognor Pirates 96-69.

Blazers won the first quarter 29-14 with Mark Jackson hitting a three-pointer on the buzzer.

The second quarter was low scoring and Southampton paid the price for aggressive defence in the third by landing themselves in foul trouble.

Bognor took advantage to narrow the gap to 13 with many trips to the free throw line.

Blazers quartet Anthony Rutter, David Butterworth, Mark Jackson and Will Zoppellini had to play the remaining quarter on four fouls, but their side went on scoring frenzy.

Coach Sylvain Donneaud said: "I'm pleased with the win but would like to see some of the team's aggressive defensive attitude put into offence."

Trailblazers host UWIC this Sunday (2.45pm) at Millbrook School. They return to St Mary's Leisure Centre early in January 2007.

Trailblazers' under-18s lost their West Conference match 85-74 to unbeaten Cardiff Celts at Romsey School, while Mike Sampson's strength was a telling factor as Trailblazers' men's A team beat Whiteley Oaks 82-61 in the Solent Area League Division 1 at Romsey School.
