THE future of AFC Totton took another twist today when potential saviours Testwood Park Limited withdrew their offer to take on the club's £185,000 debts and buy the freehold title of the stadium.
TPL's managing director Ed Holmes, chairman of neighbouring club Totton & Eling, had been due to present his rescue plan to club members at a meeting tomorrow night.
But he informed The Echo today: "Testwood Park Limited have withdrawn their offer due to unforeseen circumstances.
"The time constraints on my personal and family life were taking their toll and, also, I need to concentrate on my role as chairman of Totton & Eling.
"I was being neighbourly by trying to help out AFC Totton, and I am still willing to help and advise them in any way I can, but I've gone as far as I can go."
Tomorrow night's meeting will still take place at the Testwood Stadium (7pm), chaired by interim chairman Mick Carter.
Another potential backer, Nick Ferguson from Hayling Island - one of four people to feature on a newly-formed interim executive committee - will outline his plans to save the cash-strapped club.
With time of the essence, the Stags have received FA permission to vote on Mr Ferguson's proposal on the night.
