BLACKMORE Vale upset league leaders Thatchers to win the fifth round of the Hants, Wilts and Dorset Winter League.
Held at John Candy's Todber Manor Fishery, an exceptional match took place in horrendous conditions - more than 55lb needed to make the top six.
Blackmore Vale had four section winners and ended up with 57 points to get the better of pacesetters Thatchers (55.5). Improving TVAC came third with 49.
League to date: Thatcher's seven penalty points, Blackmore Vale ten, Eastleigh Mosella 19, TVAC 20, Dorset Raiders 22, Andover 27, Post Office 35.
Individually, Martin Barratt (Thatchers) took 88lb 12oz of carp, comprising 22 fish on the feeder to win comfortably. Nicky Ewers (Thatchers) finished second with 74lb 14oz of feeder caught carp to 8lb, with Dorset Raiders' Chris Albiston third with 71lb 8oz of carp on the pole and corn.
Others: D Hyde (Andover) 66lb 13oz, M Bernstein (Blackmore Vale) 65lb 11oz, G Naylor (Eastleigh Mosella) 56lb 12oz.
