Claus Lundekvam has revealed that Gordon Strachan's Celtic are the likely opponents for his testimonial at St Mary's next year.

Writing in his exclusive Echo column, today, the Saints skipper said he spoke with his former manager after Wednesday's win against Birmingham.

Lundekvam writes: I had a good chat with Gordon Strachan at St Mary's on Wednesday.

We discussed availability for Celtic to come down and be the opposition for my testimonial.

It's all looking good but it was mentioned that maybe it would be better if it happened pre-season time rather than right at the end of this season. They would prefer that because we could be in the play-offs and Celtic will not have finished their season - even though they will probably have won it by Christmas!

We're going to sort it out anyhow by the launch date on January 21.

I think they will be the opponents and Strachan is doing me a massive favour. It's going to be great.

I've told Chris Marsden to get training and hopefully he'll be fit and ready to come over. He's a good man and did really well for us.

I want to bring back most of the successful Saints players I've played with like Bridgey, Theo, Egil Ostenstad, Antti Niemi, James Beattie - players like that.

That's the plan, so in that respect it might be easier to do it pre-season time.
