AFC TOTTON’S captain Carl Pettefer has become the fourth Stags player to join newly-promoted Calor Southern Premier Division outfit Poole Town. The Dolphins have now signed 32-year-old Pettefer, along with Jamie Whisken, Jono Davies and Richard Gillespie, from the cash-strapped Stags.
After beginning his career at Portsmouth, midfielder Pettefer, pictured below, made his name at Southend United and went on to play for Oxford United under Jim Smith.
He made more than 150 appearancs for Totton after joining them four-and-a-half years ago, leading them to promotion to the Southern Premier Division and into the second round of the FA Cup.
“To sign a player of Carl’s calibre is a big indicator of how far we have come,” said Poole boss Tom Killick. “I have always said I want us to be challenging at the top end of this league and, after assembling a strong squad, we are well placed to achieve that. “It is my ambition to manage in the Conference South with Poole and the signings we have made, along with the momentum we have got, give us a realistic chance this season.”
