AFC TOTTON gave themselves something to smile about with a 3-1 friendly win at Sydenhams champions Blackfield & Langley tonight.
Despite recent player departures, the cash-strapped Stags travelled with a squad of 19, including Fawley AFC midfielder Lewis Ross who put them ahead.
Blackfield levelled, but Luke Roberts headed the Southern Premier visitors back in front from Zac Mouland’s cross and it was Mouland who earned the penalty from which Leighton Speechley-Price crowned victory.
Stags striker Nathaniel Sherborne came through 55 minutes unscathed after a season out with a broken leg and midfielder/forward Dave Allen returned following a lengthy foot injury.
“It’s nice we put on a decent performance against a good, strong, physical Blackfield side,” said manager Steve Riley. “But we can’t get too carried away. There’s a long way to go until August 17 and we need to assemble a squad that can compete.”
*Former Totton loanee Baily Cargill was among the scorers as AFC Bournemouth beat Christchurch 7-1 in front of a bumper 722 Hurn Bridge crowd.
