NICK Holmes will once again be thinking of fellow Wembley wonder Peter Osgood when he sends Salisbury into tomorrow's David v Goliath' FA Cup clash with former Euro kings Nottingham Forest.

Holmes and Osgood will forever be remembered by Saints fans for the part they played in the club's greatest ever day 30 years ago.

And Osgood, who died suddenly of a heart attack earlier this year, will forever be in Holmes' thoughts.

Holmes has dedicated Salisbury's Cup campaign to Osgood and revealed how the larger-than-life ex-England ace took care of him during the build up to Saints' sensational Twin Towers success against Manchester United.

Holmes said Osgood suddenly entered his mind when he had to talk to the media after Salisbury's first round win against Fleetwood last month.

He said: "He (Osgood) suddenly came to me when I had lots of press around me and I found myself thinking, Where are you Os? This is one of those times when I could do with you'.

"He used to handle all that stuff for me, you see.

"I thought of him and, the next thing I knew, I'd dedicated it to him."

Holmes - who remains third on the list of all-time Saints appearances - took time out from the build-up for tomorrow's live televised clash at the 2,700-capacity Raymond McEnhill stadium to remember Osgood.

Casting his mind back to 1976, he recalled: "It was once we got through the fifth round and there was a bit of a buzz around the place, the press started to get interested.

"To be honest, I'm quite a shy lad, I'm not eloquent with words and I didn't really want to talk to anyone.

"Ossie couldn't be more different - he loved all that.

"I didn't have to say a word to him about it. He just saw that it wasn't my forte and he came to my rescue.

"He just said, I'll do it for you lad. Don't worry.'"
