STEVE Curtis was flying the flag in great style at the weekend after winning his EIGHTH world powerboat title.
The Southampton star claimed his fifth successive crown in Dubai when he and partner Bjorn Gjelsten held off the hosts' main hope Victory 77 to win the final event of the UIM Class 1 season.
In pouring rain and overcast skies, conditions not seen in Dubai for two years, Curtis capped a stunning year which has also seen him win the American series and been awarded the MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to the sport.
