James Knight landed his third consecutive victory in the opens on the Match Lake at Dandys Ford when landing a superb 189lb 12oz of carp to 7lb. Knight fished pole and pellet at 14 metres to take his haul from peg 17, writes Mark Simmonds.
Tyrone Hull finished second with 162lb 8oz with carp to 6lb caught on pole and pellet close to the lily pads on peg 3. Hull has suddenly burst onto the match scene this season after a string of good results on the For Life Experience Fishery at Ampfield and certainly looks an angler for the future. Hayden Meyers finished third with 132lb 1oz of carp from peg 12. Others: D.Moody 123lb 3oz, R.Yeo 118lb 8oz and D.Seed 117lb 4 oz.
The third round of The Avon Valleys Super League – fished on Marsh Farms Richardson and Harris Lake – saw . Preston Delcac finish top team on the day with 44 points from Arun Anglings Black with 43. Others: Tubertini South 38, Boris Marine Mates 37, Milo Bordon Black 37. League to date: Tubertini South 166, Milo Bordon Black 161, Preston Delcac 158, Arun Angling 149, Garbolino Banstead 137, Milo Bordon Red 116. Individually in the Avon Valleys Super League Russ Berryman (Milo Bordon Red) took 49lb 10oz of tench and skimmers on pole and worm and caster over ground bait at six metres from peg 41 on Richardson Lake. Second was John Parks (Preston Delcac) with 34lb 9oz of tench and skimmers with Tony Frost third with 28lb 4 oz.
Comorants’ club match on the lower lake at Broadlands went to Andy Hayden, who took 140lb 12oz of carp on a mixture of method feeder and long pole from peg 6 with fish to 10lb. Neil Tappin finished second with 91lb 15oz of carp on the pole and pellet in the margins from peg 18, with Richie Yeo third with 80lb 2oz of carp on the method feeder. Others: B.Shutler 76lb 3oz, D.Seed 67lb 8oz and P.Stride 65lb 4 oz.
The Eastleigh CC Evening Match on Stoneham saw victory go to Rich Penny, who took 23lb 6oz consisting of a 10lb and a 6lb carp plus skimmers on the long pole and soft pellet from peg 42 to just get the better of Gary Wright, who took 21lb 2oz of tench and crucians on pole and pellet from peg 1. Others: S.O’Rouke 13lb 3oz, A.Sear 13lb 1oz, S.Ware 11lb 12oz and A.Hillman 10lb 11 oz.
Eastleigh, Test Valley Angling Club and Salisbury held an inter club match on the match lake at Dandys Ford and Salisbury’s Nightingale Lake. Pete Newman (Sonubaits) took eight carp for 82lb 12oz, including fish to 17lb 10oz, on pole and pellet from Nightingale to win his lake from Geoff Rowlands (Eastleigh) with 43lb 12oz of carp on the method feeder.
Chalkie White was third with three carp for 32lb 4oz. On the match lake at Dandys Ford Colin Sellwood (Salisbury) took 112lb 10oz of carp on corn and worm in the margins with fish to 5lb from peg 1. Andy Palmer (T.V.A.C) finished second with 103lb 3oz of carp on pole and pellet on corn in the margins with Paul Barnard (Salisbury) third with 97lb of carp on pole and pellet from the shallows from peg 5.
The Eastleigh Evening Open at Kingham Lake at Winnal saw Phil Clift win with 17lb 2oz of tench, bream and roach on pole and pellet from peg 48. Dan Shedfield finished second from peg 44 with 12lb of skimmers on pole and pellet. Others: S.Pomery 10lb 6oz, J.Pitman 8lb 9oz, C.Egerton 6lb 10oz and G.Naylor 6lb 8 oz.
