Greek teenage winger Charis Mavrias has arrived in Sunderland for a medical ahead of a £2.5m move from Panathinaikos – and could be ready to face Saints at St Mary’s on Saturday.
The 19-year-old Greece international, who has two caps to his name, has begun talks at the Stadium of Light with Paolo Di Canio.
Mavrias is the second youngest player to play in the Champions League - at the age of 16 years and eight months - and has since made more than 60 appearances for Panathinaikos, scoring six goals.
