HAMPSHIRE hockey star Alex Danson scored the winning penalty in England's 3-2 shoot-out victory over Holland in the EuroHockey Nations Championship semi-final in Belgium last night.
Danson played from the start and, after being level at 0-0 at half-time, England came out firing in the second half and quickly went 1-0 up through an own goal.
The Dutch got one back through a rocket from Eva De Goede and the scores stayed level until the final whistle.
England held their nerve in the shoot-out, with Danson’s strike taking them to through to Saturday’s final to face Germany.
