Eastleigh boss Richard Hill admits “the job still isn’t over” as his side moves to within touching distance of the Skrill Conference South title.
Hill saw Stuart Fleetwood and Craig McAllister pick up injuries in the massive 2-1 victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Bromley and is adamant there still a lot of work to be done.
“We need five more points, the job is still not over, however we come across those points I don’t know,” he said.
“I’ve got a few walking wounded in there, Fleetwood had to come off after half-an-hour, McAllister’s had to come off at half-time.
“So I don’t know what I’ve got at the minute, I don’t know what team we’ll have Saturday but we have to get those points.”
In a frantic match at Hayes Lane, Hill had to stay calm during some intense action, he said: “You should have been in my shoes.
“You have to stay level headed. You have to try and stay focused and try and stay one step ahead. You have to be thoughtful of the each process.
“I had a plan of how I wanted the game to pan out tonight, unfortunately it panned out like that a bit earlier than I expected and I couldn’t put another substitute on because Dean (Beckwith) was feeling his hamstring, I couldn’t afford to go down to ten men. We scored within 15 minutes in both halves and only one thing is going to happen from there.”
The Ravens came at the Spitfires at full tilt and Hill had told his squad before the match that the London side will go out all guns blazing.
“I said to the lads before the game ‘if we’re winning the game you know what to expect’,” he said.
“I spoke to Lee Bradbury yesterday and he pre-warned me that if you’re winning the game with 20 minutes to go, this what to expect and the lads knew, so it was no surprise to them.”
“We got away by the seat of our pants a few times.”
