One of Saints’ four England World Cup hopefuls has already seen his dreams of Brazil dashed, but Morgan Schneiderlin is confident the remaining three will be heading to the tournament this summer.
Jay Rodriguez has been cruelly ruled out of contention for the competition after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, leaving him facing a six-month spell on the sidelines.
However, there is still significant hope that Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Luke Shaw can make Roy Hodgson’s squad, which is due to be announced on May 13.
“I’m very confident for them,” said Schneiderlin.
“I just think Adam Lallana he plays week in and week out very good. Same for Lambert, same for Luke Shaw.
“There’s many opportunities for them. They just need to focus in the last couple of games and then they’ll see.
“They can’t do anything about it. They’ve played very well and after it’s the manager’s decision.”
