THREE Saints stars could be set for a Claret and Blue reunion next season.
Burnley clinched automatic promotion back to the top flight for the first time since 2010 when beating Wigan 2-0 at Turf Moor yesterday.
The last time the club were in the Premier League, in 2009/10, current Saints Jack Cork and Danny Fox played for them.
A third Saint, Jay Rodriguez, was at Turf Moor that season but didn’t appear in a single league game.
Burnlet’s top scorer this season is 25-goal Southampton-born Danny Ings, who started his career in the Tyro League with Netley Abbey prior to joining Bournemouth.
Lymington-born Sam Vokes, another ex-Cherries striker, has 22 goals but has not played since the end of last month due to injury.
Both Ings and Vokes were on target when Burnley were beaten 4-3 in an FA Cup third round tie at St Mary’s in early January. Clarets boss Sean Dyche claimed his fifth taste of promotion was the sweetest yet.
As a player Dyche was promoted four times with the likes of Chesterfield, Bristol City, Millwall and Northampton.
Dyche said: “It feels marvellous and feels like the destination at the end of a long journey: an impressive journey from a group of people who are totally motivated and committed to stand the test of what a season is.
“I was promoted four times as a player and I know what it feels likes and what it takes as a player but doing it as a manager is an incredible feeling.
“What we have done is historic. The challenges of the Championship are getting harder and harder because clubs that get relegated are getting richer.
“So to do it automatically is the thing that is getting harder. To do it automatically, having amassed the points we have, with a low budget, and using 22 players is incredible. “I don’t think those markers will be hit again. It is a marker in history.”
