Eastleigh are hoping to celebrate their best-ever season by winning their last game of the Conference South season at a jubilant Silverlake Stadium tomorrow.
Richard Hill’s men will try and sign off a historic campaign by capping an afternoon of celebrations with an incredible 14th successive home win.
The Spitfires have not lost a Skrill South game on home turf for five months and will be determined to end their most successful season on a winning note against Boreham Wood.
Eastleigh’s Easter Monday defeat at Havant & Waterlooville came after a weekend of celebrations following the Good Friday win against Basingstoke that secured the South title and promotion to the fifth tier of English football.
With a post-match party planned to celebrate the club’s achievement tomorrow, there is sure to be a feel-good factor on Stoneham Lane, whatever the result.
But a repeat of the performance at Boreham Wood in August, when goals from Craig McAllister, Stuart Fleetwood and Jai Reason, pictured below ensured a 3-0 win that put Eastleigh’s promotion charge in motion, would be the perfect way to end nine years in Skrill South.
But, other than that, neither side has much to play for.
The last of the three relegation positions and two play-off places are the only Conference South issues that need to be settled.
Having lost their penultimate game on Wednesday night, 3-1 at home to a Maidenhead side scrapping for survival, Lee Bradbury’s Havant need to win their final match at relegated Tonbridge to secure a play-off berth. The only team that can deny them are Dover, who need to win at Hayes & Yeading and for Tonbridge to take a point off Havant to finish in the top five.
