Mauricio Pochettino insists that Saints deserved their 2-0 win against Everton even though it came courtesy of two own goals.
Saints look to have derailed Everton’s Champions League charge after their victory at St Mary’s, which came courtesy of Antolin Alcaraz and Seamus Coleman putting into their own net.
However, Pochettino is adamant his side deserved the three points.
“It’s an anecdote that those two goals were own goals. I think we created the chances to make those own goals happen,” he said.
“I felt overall we had a great game.
“I want to congratulate the players because they had an amazing game against a team that is trying to break into the Champions League and into the top four.
“Overall my team played a great game.”
