George Burley was left to rue a lacklustre attacking display from his side as Saints were held to a goalless draw by Burnley at St Mary's.
It was a game with no real chances but Saints might have had a second -half penalty after Mario Licka was brought down by John McGreal.
But, while Saints extended their recent good form to just one defeat in 15, it was nonetheless two points dropped.
Burley said: "Our home form has been good, we've been scoring plenty of goals.
"We had a lot of possession and pressure, especially second half, but couldn't manage to get the ball in the net.
"Credit to Burnley. They had a game plan and experienced lads at the back but we needed to be sharper up front.
"We might have got a penalty. It looked clear cut for me but he didn't give the decision."
