George Burley was left ruing a lack of quality in the final third as Saints struggled to a disappointing 0-0 draw with Burnley.
Despite Saints coming into the game in fifth position the match only drew 20,486 fans - the third lowest home attendance of the season - and it seemed those that stayed away were right to do so.
Neither side were able to create chances in a drab match but it was Saints who were the more disappointed with just a point.
Burley said: "It didn't work out. We take the one point but we were looking for three.
"We worked hard but couldn't get the ball in the net - we needed a wee bit better quality in the box.
"It's never easy in this league. You've got to be at your best and you need a little break.
"We've scored plenty of goals this season but it's up to ourselves to continue to break teams down.
"That's now one defeat in 15 - but draws like these must be turned into wins."
