Saints crashed out of the FA Youth Cup against Manchester United last night.
First-half goals from midfielders Sam Hewson and Daniel Drinkwater gave United a 2-0 win at Ewen Fields, the home of Conference North outfit Hyde United, where Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton helped make up the 332-strong crowd.
Saints coach Georges Prost was disappointed with his side's early exit.
He said: "We didn't show our potential and the good football we are capable of. I don't understand why. Maybe the lads were a bit tense about playing United in this competition but it is a shame because we are better than we showed."
