GEORGE Burley felt his side deserved their important three points at QPR.
Grzegorz Rasiak's 19th goal of the season 11 minutes from time and an injury-time strike from Bradley Wright-Phillips sealed the 2-0 victory against a dogged QPR side at Loftus Road.
With other sides around the top of the table picking up points it was imperative that Saints also took all three.
Burley said: "Football lasts 90 minutes or 93 in this case.
"I thought first half it was quite scrappy. The pitch wasn't easy - it was quite bobbly and against QPR it's never easy.
"We stepped it up in the second half and moved Mario Licka to the right and Jhon Viafara to the middle and that gave us a bit more bite.
"Over the 90 minutes I don't think anybody could have any complaints that we got the three points."
