SAINTS legend Francis Benali will be pounding away on a treadmill at WestQuay tomorrow, as he continues to prepare for his epic challenge of running to all 20 Premier League grounds.
The 45-year-old, who is in the midst of a gruelling training programme, will be spending about three hours in the shopping centre on one of the exercise machines, raising awareness for ‘Benali’s Big Run’.
There is just three weeks until the former Saints defender sets off on his journey from Newcastle United’s St James’ Park stadium to St Mary’s – visiting all of the other top-flight clubs along the way.
The route, which is nearly 1,000 miles long, will see Benali cover between 40-50 miles a day, over the course of three weeks.
He hopes his efforts will help raise £1m for Cancer Research UK.
Benali has already received tremendous support from the public during his training, and he is hoping plenty of people will be on hand in WestQuay tomorrow to offer him some encouragement, as he runs for between 20 and 30 miles.
He will begin at about 11am, in the concourse area on the ground floor.
Saints mascot 'Sammy Saint' will also be there to cheer Benali on.
As well as the chance to meet Benali and offer him support, there will also be an opportunity to donate via collection buckets.
