Joe Gatting hit 84 as the Hampshire Academy comfortably accounted for Alton by 75 runs on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground.
The former Sussex batsman shared an important second-wicket stand of 91 with Lewis McManus (41), which pointed the Academy towards 229-8.
Julian Ballinger took 4-47 for Alton, who crumbled from 57-2 to 79-8 against Ryan Murray (4-18) and Pete Newman (2-45).
Tailender Ben Mortimer biffed an unbeaten 50 to lift Alton to an eventual 154 all out.
