The Southern Electric Premier League is gearing itself up for a photo-finish in three of its four divisions, with the final day showdown between South Wilts and Havant at Bemerton set to decide the ECB Premier Division title.
The championship race took a decisive U-turn at the weekend, with overnight leaders South Wilts crashing to a six-wicket defeat by Lymington – the side who they themselves had thrashed in the previous evening’s Southern Electric t20 Cup final under the Ageas Bowl floodlights.
Havant crushed St Cross Symondians by 119 runs and, with two games left, enjoy a nine-point lead at the top.
Next Saturday, Havant host resurgent Lymington and South Wilts go to Burridge, whose survival prospects were boosted by a 48-run win over Totton & Eling.
The Division 1 title race is also set to go to the wire after leaders New Milton were beaten by eight wickets by visiting Liphook & Ripsley.
Sarisbury Athletic edged a three-run win over relegation threatened Fawley and, with two to play, trail New Milton by 0.5 of a point!
New Milton have a tough finish against Bournemouth and Basingstoke & North Hants, while Sarisbury go to Liphook before taking on Bournemouth.
Rowledge almost have the Division 2 title wrapped up, but there‘s only two points in it between already promoted pair Tichborne Park and Bashley (Rydal) II at the top of Division 3.
Tichborne won by two wickets at Basingstoke & North Hants, while Bashley (Rydal) chased down a South Wilts II target of 246-7 to win by six wickets.
