SNOOKER: IT’S 19 years since Woolston Trades & Labour Club B had their hands on the Summer Bonanza trophy.
Now the class of 2014 hope to emulate the boys from 1995 in the 35th final against Ashlett Club C at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club on Monday.
Woolston saw off Netley Central B 3-1 in the last four.
Marc Russell played solid to beat Tony Adams. Chris Moulsdale racked up a 59-point victory over Chris Wilkins. Paul Naismith struggled to find his potting rhythm and lost to Adam Humphries. And David Wittig also struggled to get going but rallied to edge Paul Botley on the black.
Meanwhile, it was third time lucky for the Ashlett side.
Twice losing semi-finalists, the Watersiders booked a place in their first ever final by beating Chandler’s Ford Screwballs 3-0.
Derek Webb accounted for 13-year-old Luke Beebe, Dave Matthews beat Suzie Opacic and Nick Miles wrapped up a fine win against Gary Tomkins.
Matthews said: “It was a pretty solid performance against good opposition, especially by Nick ‘Pocket Rocket’ Miles who had been away for three weeks and only got home the day before.
“All three frames were close so we were very happy to reach our first final after two previous semi-final defeats.”
All entry fees will be donated by sponsor Chandler’s Ford SC to a charity nominated by the winning team.
