GEORGE Burley has renewed his interest in Polish international Marek Saganowski.
The Saints boss was keen to bring Grzegorz Rasiak's international colleague to Hearts during his time with the Scottish club in July 2005.
Burley had a £350,000 bid turned down by Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes but Saganowski, who is now with Troyes, is on a two-day trial at St Mary's with a view to signing on loan from the French outfit.
Burley said: "We've had him here for a couple of days trial and are now monitoring the situation.
"We haven't made a decision but if we did pursue it then it would be a loan deal."
Saganowski spent a short trial with Premiership club Watford last month, but Hornets boss Aidy Boothroyd said: "He wasn't at the level I'm after".
Saganowski, who has also played for Feyenoord and Hamburg, was linked with Celtic in the summer of 2005.
But ex-Saints boss Gordon Strachan signed another Polish striker, Maciej Zurawski, for £2m.
