Quality black bream continue to figure along the Milford Shingle Bank with Matthew Stevens from the Waterside landing the pick of the bunch – a superb specimen weighing 2lb 14oz.

Ten-year-old Ollie Warren, who is a member of the Lymington club, also sampled the action. The youngster used a small strip of mackerel presented on a pop-up to tempt a beauty, which tipped the scales down to 1lb 13.5oz – completely out fishing his Dad, Keith Warren, who only managed a few smaller bream!

Several local youngsters were involved in the first ever sea angling Junior Talent Pathway coaching session organised by members of the Angling Trust and held at Lymington.

Jack Cairns from Gosport, Rhys Hayward from Lymington, Jaon Voller and Bradley Mapstone from Christchurch and Thomas Wartnaby from Sandbanks were amongst the youngsters to benefit from the event.

he morning was spent in the classroom at the Lymington Clubhouse under the watchful eyes of David Graham from Southbourne, Mark Hurcombe from Kent and Chris Clark from Sway where they were given trace tying demonstrations as well as guidance on a number of other issues.

Also present was Ben Thompson, the head of the Angling Trust’s development programme, who flew down from Newcastle to watch proceedings.

During the afternoon they had a three hour fishing session along the Pennington Sea Wall where they caught over 100 fish.
