It will be his third club in three days and there won’t be any stopping there.
Saints legend Francis Benali is today en route to Hull City in the early stages of his charity challenge of running to all 20 Premier League clubs.
The 45-year-old has already ticked off Newcastle United’s St James’ Park and Sunderland’s Stadium of Light as well as a quick stop fly-by of Hartlepool’s Victoria Park.
The former full back, who made nearly 400 appearances for Saints, is trying to raise £1 million for Cancer Research by doing the challenge that he’s dubbed ‘Benali’s Big Run’.
Overnight he stopped in a small village called Norton-on-Derwent about 38 miles north of Hull in North Yorkshire.
“It was a very tough day,” said Benali of his Bank Holiday Monday.
“We were running over the North York Moors and so the terrain was really loose at times and difficult to run on because it was uneven.
“I’m obviously feeling very tired and making sure I get good time to recover is very important.
“My main problem is eating enough food, trying to cram it in while I run.
“On the first night I came to eat my dinner and I felt nausea. I thought when I’d eat it would make me feel better, but it didn’t.”
Benali started running again at 5am this morning and will hope to get to the KC Stadium at 5 or 6pm.
