FRANNY Benali had the best day of his epic challenge, arriving at Hull City’s KC Stadium on a day that saw him cover 42 miles.

The Saints legend ran 36 miles from the north Yorkshire market town of Pickering to Hull City before heading on to his hotel.

Benali’s wife Karen joined him for the first seven miles to help get him off to the best possible start after a difficult ten-mile section on the north Yorkshire moors.

Benali said: “My feet were still very sore at the start, the terrain on the moors was very stony and up and down.

“But that was the only off-road run on the route and it was good to be back on a flatter ground.

“It was the best day so far, most definitely.”

Benali set off at 7.30am before arriving at Hull City at 3.30pm.

“Hull City were great, they signed me with a signed match ball and shirt so there were a few photo opportunities pitch side,” he said.

“I had another six miles to run after that but feel really good after an ice bath! And after struggling to eat my evening meal for a couple of days I had my appetite back.”

Benali, who is running to every Premier League ground in aid of Cancer Research UK, will run another eight hours tomorrow before arriving at Burnley FC’s Turf Moor on Thursday.
