BROADLANDS has been a very happy hunting ground for youngsters.

Mia Warren fished at peg 105 for two nights with her dad, her first experience of night fishing.
On the first afternoon Mia caught a 21lb 8oz mirror, then the following morning, at 6am, she reeled in a 17lb 4oz mirror.
Both fish were caught on 18mm mainline cell boilies, fished snowman style with 12mm homemade banoffe pop-ups using size 6 korda kurv hooks, rigs tied with suffix camou skin and 2oz flat pear leads fished on a lead clip.
As they were packing up, Mia decided to practise her casting but caught herself and had to spend two hours in A&E to get a hook taken out of her leg.
Having fished for one week in July on Lower Lake at Broadlands during activities week with Test Valley School, Tom Sheaf has now made several return trips.

Dean McNeil did an overnight session, catching three commons to 21.2lb on a size 6 hook and blow back long shank.
Jason Wiles used the cell snowman with a size 4 & d rig, fishing at peg 79 he landed four carp to 23.2lb, Rob Dove caught two perfect commons at 22.8lb & 24.7lb using the hybrid tipped with corn.
Resident chef Neil Stansbridge made himself at home on peg 44, catching 20 carp to 24.5lb over a three-day session.
Daniel Salmon fished peg 63 using the pallatrax and caught three commons to 24.6lb & one mirror at 19.3lb.
Longbridge Lake on the Broadlands Estate continues to fish well and a recent silver fish match saw over 50lb of skimmers, bream and tench win with over 37lb needed for third. Longbridge is now open for match bookings on limited occasions. On the carp front, Steve Kirby took 11 carp to 20lb 7oz in an overnight session. Brian Trueman fished popped up crust from the Bench Swim to land 17 carp in 24 hours to 17lb. Phil Roberts used chum mixers on the surface to land 7 carp including an 18 lb grass carp in an afternoon session.
