Gaston Ramirez has completed a shock season long loan move to Hull.
The £12m midfielder has made the switch to the KC Stadium after being told he could not be guaranteed first team football at St Mary’s.
The move will be the biggest surprise to come out of Saints on deadline day as Ronald Koeman said only last week that he was not prepared to let Ramirez leave the club, and talked up his first team chances.
However, the imminent arrival of Sadio Mane seems to have changed things.
Ramirez is understood to feel that his chances are going to be further limited, and Hull’s late interest which also means greater first team opportunities has seen them tie up a deal for the Uruguayan international.
The 23-year-old has struggled to live up to the hype of his fanfare of an arrival from Bologna two years ago.
He has generally found himself as a bit part player as he has struggled to fit into the physical nature of the Premier League.
In his two seasons with Saints he has made just 27 starts with a further 22 appearances from the bench and has scored eight goals.
