Harrison Reed was given a welcome surprise when he was asked to train with the senior England squad.
The young Saints midfielder is away on international duty with England’s under-20 team but Roy Hodgson needed a few bodies to help make up the numbers in drills work with the senior squad.
He raided the under-20s for three players, one of which was Reed.
England captain Wayne Rooney was quick to welcome Reed to the group and encourage him to make the most of his valuable experience.
The 19-year-old is hoping to make a first Premier League start for Saints this season.
