Ronald Koeman was hopeful that the injuries sustained by James Ward-Prowse and Maya Yoshida at Swansea were not serious.
Both men were forced off with ankle problems at the Liberty Stadium, with Ward-Prowse departing the ground in a protective boot after being carried off on a stretcher.
However, Koeman was confident that neither issue would prove to be a major one and that both could even be in contention for tomorrow’s Capital One Cup trip to Arsenal.
“Prowsey and Maya, we have to wait to know exactly what happened and how big is the injury, but the doctor told me these are not big injuries and hopefully they are back on Tuesday,” he said.
Koeman had started Yoshida after being unable to field Toby Alderweireld, who suffered a hamstring problem on Friday.
Again, though, the Saints boss is expecting the on-loan Atletico Madrid player back quickly.
“He had some problems with the hamstring,” he said. “It’s not for a long period, but we didn’t take the risk to play and normally we expect Toby back next week.”
